“What Do I Desire?”

6 Oct

Here’s a little inspiration for anyone who may be at a beginning or crossroads, career or otherwise. The takeaway for me, is not that you should ditch the cash in exchange so you can concentrate on your favorite hobby, but rather that you can take whatever it is that sparks passion inside you, adapt it to become your life’s work, and therefore become a pro at something that fulfills you while at the same time making a living. As my late professor, Charles Goslin, said upon receiving the 2003-2004 Distinguished Teacher Award from Pratt Institute:

Work for the joy of working, and without intending to, you will help to change your corner of the world.”

Sure, there will be challenges and hard times. But it will be much easier to roll with the punches that you’ll get thrown, when you know in your heart that you’re taking them to do something that you love.
