Adobe InDesign Can Alphabetize Paragraphs?!

20 May

I didn’t know that InDesign can alphabetize paragraphs until I found this great post on the InDesign Secrets blog. This feature isn’t so intuitive, but once you know where to find it, it’s almost terrifyingly simple to use.

1. Go to Window Menu > Utilities > Scripts and open the Scripts Panel.

2. Click the arrows next to the Samples and JavaScript folders to expand them and see their contents.

3. With the Type Tool, select the paragraphs that you want to alphabetize, then double-click SortParagraphs.jsx in the Scripts Panel.

IMPORTANT: Each item to be alphabetized must be separated by a Paragraph Return for this to work.

4. The Paragraphs will now be alphabetized.Image
