GDUSA AGDA 2016 Award Letter and CertificateFor the ninth consecutive year, I’m proud to have won an American Graphic Design Award From GDUSA Magazine. The award is for a 3D layer project that I created at the ADIM Conference which took place in April at Adobe Headquarters in San Jose, CA, and had the theme, “20,000 Layers Under the Sea.” (My projects from past ADIMs also won in 2013, 2014, and 2015.)

The media used are printed ink and plexiglass, which is also laser cut and etched. My solution is typography driven, displaying a quote from the poem, Rime of the Ancient Mariner (text of 1834), By Samuel Taylor Coleridge, on the center panel. Waves are etched on the front panel, which also has a window cut out, and a water pattern is printed in color on the rear panel.

Just under 10,000 entries were submitted to the competition, and only 15% were recognized with Certificates of Excellence. My work will be published in the printed, online, and digital American Graphic Design Awards Annuals.

Thank you to the Editors and Judges from GDUSA, as well as to Russell BrownAdobeThe Van Heyst GroupEpsonUniversal Laser SystemsRoland, and all my fellow attendees for the inspirational experience that was ADIM16.
